About the role
As a member of the clinical support team, you will provide technical clinical expertise and support of the sales process to colleagues, current customers, and/or potential customers. Working under general direction with clinical and sales teammates, you will identify and capitalize on sales opportunities by building competency, comfort, and expertise with all Abbott Chronic Pain Therapies among physicians, support staff, and customers within your assigned geography. This role involves a high degree of independence and independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing work, with a focus on continually improving territory efficiency.
What you’ll work on
- Provide technical, clinical, and programming assistance, primarily in support of one or two Territory Managers; assist with after-hours call support and activities.
- Integrate into accounts, build trust and relationships, and establish strong rapport with customers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in complex programming and case support; work seamlessly with Territory Managers to increase their selling time.
- Foster high-trust relationships with customers and regional team members; begin conducting physician champion program (PCP) work and educational in-services as directed.
- Contact, visit, and engage clients and potential clients to provide information on Abbott products, address questions and concerns, and deliver sales support, training, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned accounts and customers, including competitor activity; conduct evaluations and develop sales strategies for capital equipment opportunities.
- Collect and study information about new and existing products; monitor competitor sales, prices, and products; provide feedback to providers both within and outside the operating room setting on directions for use specific to implantable devices.
- Attend trade shows and conferences to showcase new products and technologies and discuss developments with sales representatives and clients.
- Use clinical expertise to identify customer training and in-service needs with the goal of increasing customer usage, comfort, and understanding of Abbott Chronic Pain Therapies.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel up to 25% within assigned region and/or outside assigned region as needed.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 1–2 years of work experience, with a strong preference for experience collaborating with patients in a clinical setting.
- Ability to communicate, understand, and educate clinical data in the Chronic Pain Therapies space.
- Strong clinical skills and excellent organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels and to large groups within and outside the organization.
- Capable of building strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Accustomed to tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks; capable of working in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment; ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Capable of engaging customers in selling conversations as needed and as directed by Territory Manager.
Preferred qualifications
- Patient interaction experience within a healthcare-related environment (e.g., Physical Therapy, medical product sales, RN, LPN).
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.
- 1–3 years of experience with Abbott or in a similar spinal cord stimulation (SCS) setting or with another implantable medical device company.
Pay
The base pay for this position is $61,300.00 – $122,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
