The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) enhance public safety and promote successful community reintegration through education, treatment, and active participation in rehabilitative and restorative justice programs. Duties

  • Conduct assessments and summarize case information for diagnosis, treatment (level of care), and dispositional release.
  • Diagnose or collaborate in the formulation of a diagnosis.
  • Develop, monitor, and modify treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide assessments, group therapy, and collateral conferences.
  • Document and evaluate patients’ progress in treatment.
  • Coordinate placement with community resources and the Classification and Parole Representative.

Requirements

This is a limited-term position which may be extended or become permanent. Applications will be reviewed on a bi-weekly basis from July to October 2026.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires a 3% base salary reduction for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 19 and related categories, with 5 PLP 2025 leave credits granted monthly through June 2027. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.

This classification is eligible for Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorization, with an authorized HAM rate of P $8,678 - Q $9,319.

Pay

A recruitment and retention bonus may be available for newly hired clinicians. Eligible individuals may receive:

  • A $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment.
  • A monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year (totaling $20,000), contingent on meeting eligibility criteria.

CDCR and CCHCS employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if the referred candidate is hired and remains employed for 90 days.
