Clinical Services Manager

About the role

The Clinical Services Manager (RN) is responsible for the overall direction of hospice clinical services. This role establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote standards of quality, contributing to the total organization and its philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
• Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation and administration of the organization's budget.
• Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and adjusts staffing levels, revenues, or expenses as needed.
• Evaluates performance of team members and assists in developing skills and techniques for evaluating clinicians and supportive care staff.
• Assists with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of organization personnel.
• Conducts annual evaluations on clinicians and supportive care staff, or more frequently if indicated.
• Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
• Ensures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Responsible for maintaining adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for patient services.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates the orientation program for new organization personnel.
• Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet training needs of organization personnel.
• Assists with the evaluation of organization performance via performance improvement programs, productivity metrics, and reviews.
• Ensures the quality and safe delivery of hospice services.
• Assists in the development of organization goals and administers policies and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of personnel, and maintains compliance with CHAP hospice standards.
• Stays informed about changes in nursing and hospice care, sharing information with appropriate personnel.
• Promotes hospice referrals in the health care community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; Master's degree in nursing or related healthcare field preferred.
• Active nursing license in good standing in the state of Indiana.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in healthcare management, hospice, or palliative care, and/or training in end-of-life care.
• At least 2-5 years of experience with Medicare Hospice Certification and CHAP guidelines preferred.
• Knowledge of hospice care and services provided to patients and families through an interdisciplinary group.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn job-specific software systems.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Analytical skills for effective problem-solving.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
