About the Role

We are seeking a Clinical Services Nurse in our Vascular Surgery and Vein Clinic located in Raleigh, NC to be accountable for clinical expertise for specific patient populations. The incumbent functions as a clinician, educator, investigator, consultant, and leader. Clinical judgments are based on a synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes to solve complex problems. The incumbent functions as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and in providing leadership to the organization.

This position will require in-person attendance and travel between multiple Duke Vascular Surgery locations: Duke University Medical Center in Durham and the Duke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Vascular Surgery provider(s) to help manage patient care, document treatment plans, coordinate inter-visit imaging and referrals, and initiate surgical case scheduling.
  • Serve as a resource person in a nursing specialty area for patients, nurses, and other health team members throughout the Duke University medical center and community agencies.
  • Follow up to assure labs/procedures are completed, discuss abnormal results with provider, call patients with explanation of abnormal results, annotate normal results and forward to patients via MyChart or mail only if no MyChart account.
  • Coordinate labs/studies with outside facilities, obtain appointments with specialists and coordinate with patient, review all grid sheets after clinic to ensure items were completed.
  • Manage incoming patient calls, coordinate plans with providers, and return patient calls.
  • Manage prescription refills as directed by provider.
  • Complete prior authorizations, patient/insurance requested forms, and coordinate referrals.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014, are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
  • 3 years of registered nursing (RN) experience.
  • Minimum of 12 months of ambulatory nursing experience.
  • Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS required.

Schedule

Day shifts, Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), with no weekends or holidays.
