Clinical Research Nurse Manager
Job Summary
This position manages patient/subject recruitment for multiple, simultaneous studies and oversees the day-to-day implementation of study protocols/clinical trials. Key responsibilities include:
- Identifies and enrolls patients into clinical trials
- Oversees medical histories and lab values
- Performs technical nursing duties and neuropsychological testing
- Responds to medical emergencies
- Prepares accurate documentation for human research studies
- Aids in preparing abstracts and manuscripts for publication
- Ensures adherence to protocol and regulatory standards
About the Role
The position is located in the Shea Lab within the Department of Surgery. It supports essential research activities across volunteer participant human research studies and patient studies. Blood sample collection is an essential part of this job.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with volunteer human research participants including scheduling, screening, consenting, enrolling, and collecting blood samples
- Collects blood products, maintains records, performs sample processing testing when needed/appropriate, documents research activities, both human subjects' interactions and any sample processing
- Supports data analysis and interpretation
- Supports clinical studies including collecting samples from patients and maintaining documentation
- Maintains data integrity including data monitoring and addressing queries
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to transport mobile equipment (on wheels) and lift 20 lbs.
- Requires active workdays during participant visits and interactions, which may require prolonged periods of standing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- RN licensure or equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Blood product collection experience preferred but not required
- Blood handling experience required
- Coagulation and hemostasis assay experience required
Skills
Technical skills required include:
- Experience with blood product collection
- Coagulation and hemostasis assay experience
- Ability to interact with volunteer human research participants
- Knowledge of clinical trial protocols and procedures
