About the role

The Clinical Research Coordinator I coordinates and performs research-related activities for clinical research projects. The primary purpose is to oversee the screening, enrollment, and retention of study participants, ensure quality data collection, and implement procedures under the direction of lead coordinators and principal investigators.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct support to lead coordinator or serves as project lead for simple to moderate complexity projects at the site level.
  • Performs patient clinical assessments for clinical trial visits, including scheduling with vendors (internal departments or outside facilities). Tasks may include phlebotomy, sample processing, vitals, ECGs, and other delegated clinical assessments per protocol.
  • Participates in the screening, enrollment, and retention of study participants at the site.
  • Conducts study visits and data collection throughout the research study.
  • Assists with implementation of procedures and activities of assigned study protocols.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the study team and clinical team on site-specific protocols.
  • Collaborates in the preparation and submission of site study documents.
  • Assists with coordination, preparation, and conduct of site monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
  • Assists with site inventory maintenance (ordering materials for research projects or lab activities) and vendor follow-up (e.g., lab report retrieval, medical record retrieval).
  • Monitors clinical study activity to ensure compliance with protocol, site SOPs, and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Provides guidance to less experienced staff at the site.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, per Florida Senate Bill 1310:
    • An associate degree may substitute for up to 2 years of direct experience.
    • A bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to 4 years of direct experience.
    • A master’s degree may substitute for up to 6 years of direct experience.
    • A professional degree may substitute for up to 7 years of direct experience.
    • A doctoral degree may substitute for up to 9 years of direct experience.
