Clinical Research Coordinator I | School of Medicine - Pediatrics, Innovation Research

About the Role

This position supports the Children's Clinical and Translational Discovery Core (CTDC), which offers assistance to investigators conducting pediatric research in basic science, epidemiology, translational, and clinical studies. The Core is open to Emory University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and external collaborators. The role involves daily handling of human biological samples such as blood, saliva, stool, and urine, including clinical specimen processing, supply and inventory management, REDCap data entry, specimen location management, and adherence to laboratory standard operating protocols.

Responsibilities

• Maintains data for research projects, completes source documents/case report forms, and performs data entry.
• Assists with patient recruitment, including reviewing medical records and conducting screenings, interviews, and QOL questionnaires.
• Attends study meetings and coordinates services, schedules procedures, creates and maintains case packages, and monitors charges.
• Orders and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Collects study specimens according to protocol, which may include phlebotomy, processing, and preparation for shipping.
• Assists with quality assurance and tracks regulatory submissions.
• Performs clinical specimen processing, supply and inventory management, and follows standard operating protocols.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and three years of administrative support experience, or
• Two years of college in a scientific, health-related, or business administration program and one year of admin support or customer service experience, or
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with one year of admin support or licensed practical nursing experience, or
• Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, MD, or PhD in a scientific, health-related, or business administration program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft applications.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Basic laboratory bench skills (micropipetting, aseptic technique, centrifugation, etc.).

Additional Details

This position reports to the technical director of the CTDC and requires in-person work at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. All clinical training requirements must be tracked and monitored through Emory Healthcare under the credentialing category of Clinical Researcher.
