Clinical Research Coordinator I
Med-Medicine: The Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) comprises approximately 70 clinical staff and over 100 research staff across locations including Bridgeside Point, Biomedical Science Tower (BST), and UPMC Hospitals (Presbyterian, Shadyside, East, Jameson, and Mercy). The division provides world-class services across 10 inpatient services at five hospitals and over 70,000 outpatient visits annually. Our research mission focuses on basic, clinical, and translational research related to the lung, microbiome, COVID-19, sleep medicine, and allergy and immunology.
About the role
Assists with and adheres to Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal, modification, and approved protocols. Recruits research subjects, conducts interviews, and performs research assessments.
Responsibilities
- Follow a multi-pronged recruitment plan for sleep-related research studies.
- Coordinate protocol-related research procedures, study visits, and follow-up appointments.
- Conduct hands-on subject recruitment, screening subjects to determine eligibility, including reviewing medical records.
- Schedule and complete study visits and follow-up appointments according to protocol timelines.
- Conduct participant interviews and administer questionnaires.
- Maintain organized, thorough, and accurate source documentation and study records.
- Ensure timely completion of source documentation and electronic data entry.
- Establish and maintain strong rapport with potential and enrolled participants through prompt and regular telephone, text, and email communication.
- Occasional travel to offsite clinics not accessible by public transportation.
- Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team once trained.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to walk between buildings on campus.
- Proficiency in using computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and other essential office equipment.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position may require occasional flexibility in work hours, including availability during evening hours as needed.
