About the role
The Clinical Research Coordinator will coordinate and perform daily clinical research activities in accordance with approved protocols administered by the COM CCRM for the Department of Surgery Comprehensive Transplant Center.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient records to identify patients eligible to participate in specified clinical research protocols.
- Recruit, interview, and enroll patients.
- Obtain informed consent and ensure compliance with regulatory and sponsor requirements.
- Educate patients and families about the purpose, goals, and processes of clinical studies.
- Schedule and follow through with patient care appointments, procedures, and diagnostic tests in accordance with study protocols.
- Collect, process, and evaluate biological samples.
- Administer, evaluate, and calculate standardized scoring of diagnostic, psychological, or behavioral tests or questionnaires.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to study treatments, procedures, or medications and notify appropriate clinical professionals.
- Document unfavorable responses and notify research sponsors and regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate patients for compliance with study protocols.
- Collect, extract, code, and analyze clinical research data.
- Generate reports and reviews to ensure the validity of data.
- Coordinate and prepare for external quality assurance and control reviews by IRBs, federal, or industry sponsors.
- Participate in developing new research protocols and contributing to the establishment of study goals to meet protocol requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in biological sciences.
- Required Experience: 1 year of relevant clinical research experience.
- Preferred Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience or Knowledge: Experience or knowledge in endocrine diseases preferred; knowledge of medical terminology desired; clinical research certification from an accredited certifying agency desired; computer skills required with experience using Microsoft software applications desired.

Benefits
This is a patient-facing position requiring daily onsite presence. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required. Some travel to other OSU Wexner Medical Center outpatient locations may be necessary, located in the Columbus Metropolitan area including Dublin, New Albany, Powell, Lewis Center, Upper Arlington, etc.
