Clinical Research Associate (Biomedical Engineering Candidates)
About the Role
Join our Clinical Research Associate (CRA) team in Dallas, TX! This office-based position is ideal for individuals with a Biomedical Engineering background looking to transition into clinical research. As a CRA, you will travel across the U.S., contribute to bringing pharmaceuticals and medical devices to market, and participate in Medpace’s renowned CRA Training Program (PACE®). No prior research experience is required—comprehensive training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct qualification, initiation, monitoring, and closeout visits at research sites in compliance with approved protocols.
- Communicate with medical site staff, including coordinators, clinical research physicians, and site personnel.
- Verify investigator qualifications, training, resources (facilities, laboratories, equipment, and staff), and adherence to protocols.
- Perform medical record and research source documentation verification against case report form data, ensuring good documentation practices and addressing protocol deviations per SOPs, GCP, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct on-site and virtual/remote monitoring using a risk-based approach, including centralized data review via our Clinical Trial Management System to identify and mitigate site deviations/deficiencies.
- Verify eligibility of enrolled subjects and review regulatory documents.
- Perform medical device and/or investigational product/drug accountability and inventory.
- Review adverse events, serious adverse events, concomitant medications, and corresponding illnesses to ensure accurate data reporting per protocol.
- Assess patient recruitment and retention success at clinical research sites and provide improvement suggestions.
- Complete monitoring reports and follow-up letters, summarizing significant findings, deviations, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health or science-related field; Biomedical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to travel 60-70% to locations nationwide; a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to monitoring sites are required.
- Minimum 1 year of healthcare-related work experience preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, presentation, and time management skills; detail-oriented.
