Clinical Research Assistant - Cancer Control

Position Summary

The Clinical Research Assistant will provide support to the Recruitment, Intervention and Survey Shared Resource (RISSR), a part of the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Aid investigators and team members with retrospective research projects by identifying and collecting study-specific data elements.
• Review electronic medical records for patient history, treatment, encounters, with possible qualitative coding.
• Transcribe audio recordings of qualitative study data.
• Aid with REDCap database development, testing and data entry.
• Review medical records and assist with data extraction, entry, and submission.
• Prepare datasets, data dictionaries, reports and supporting documentation for review.
• Afford data quality control by requesting medical records, pathology slides and tissue, and images.
• Participate in ongoing training related to clinical research regulations, data abstraction methodologies, and institutional data systems.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and abstraction guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by project leader or management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences, psychology, human ecology or other medical field or an equivalent combination of education & experience required.
• Experience with human subjects training in a clinical research capacity or setting desired.
• Experience in a clinical and/or research setting working with patients desired.
• Computer skills required with experience using Microsoft Office Software applications desired.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, both face-to-face and in writing, with clinical staff, research participants, and outside collaborators.
