Clinical Research Assistant - Cancer Control
Position Summary
The Clinical Research Assistant will provide support to the Recruitment, Intervention and Survey Shared Resource (RISSR), a part of the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Aid investigators and team members with retrospective research projects by identifying and collecting study-specific data elements.
- Review electronic medical records for patient history, treatment, encounters, with possible qualitative coding.
- Transcribe audio recordings of qualitative study data.
- Aid with REDCap database development, testing and data entry.
- Review medical records and assist with data extraction, entry, and submission.
- Prepare datasets, data dictionaries, reports and supporting documentation for review.
- Afford data quality control by requesting medical records, pathology slides and tissue, and images.
- Participate in ongoing training related to clinical research regulations, data abstraction methodologies, and institutional data systems.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and abstraction guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by project leader or management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences, psychology, human ecology or other medical field or an equivalent combination of education & experience required.
- Experience with human subjects training in a clinical research capacity or setting desired.
- Experience in a clinical and/or research setting working with patients desired.
- Computer skills required with experience using Microsoft Office Software applications desired.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, both face-to-face and in writing, with clinical staff, research participants, and outside collaborators.
