About the role
The Clinical Research Assistant will provide support for the Principal Investigator(s) and Clinical Research Coordinator(s) to streamline clinical trial conduct, ensuring quality data and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Completes accurate and complete data entry into case report forms or pre-established computer programmed formats, ensuring appropriate source documentation.
- Transfers data from paper formats via computer, recorders, or scanners.
- Screens patient records, EMR, and physician referral summaries for identification of prospective candidates for research protocols.
- Assists with patient recruitment.
- Coordinates the collection of data according to the research protocol, operations manual, and case report form guidelines within budgetary guidelines.
- Draws, prepares, and ships laboratory samples for clinical trials.
- Performs EKGs and other procedures as directed by study protocol and delegated by Principal Investigator.
- Files various paperwork and organizes spreadsheets with large numbers.
- Maintains and updates site demographics on computer database; logs forms received and files as appropriate; prepares reports from database.
- Communicates and coordinates with other study personnel, including data entry, randomization, pharmacy, laboratories, study sponsors, and others for study implementation and problem resolution.
- Attends routine meetings and other meetings related to clinical research; stays abreast of information and any changes to study protocol.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior clinical research experience is preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Medical terminology is a plus.
- Computer knowledge required; electronic medical records (EMR) experience highly preferred.
- Administrative skills, especially the ability to precisely record important data.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Attentiveness to detail and keen observation.
- Capacity to manage and coordinate several stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated individual.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
Work Environment
This position reports to the office Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM or any designated hours to support business needs.
Physical Requirements
This position requires a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
