About the Role

Alcanza is a growing multi-site, multi-phase clinical research company with a network of locations across AL, AZ, FL, GA, IL, MA, MI, MO, NV, VA, SC, TN, TX, and Puerto Rico. We specialize in Phase I-IV studies across therapeutic areas including vaccine, neurology, dermatology, psychiatry, and general medicine. As a Research Assistant (RA), you will provide support to Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), Site Managers, Principal and Sub Investigators, and other site staff in compliance with GCP, ICH, HIPAA, FDA Regulations, and SOPs. The RA performs clinical, lab, and administrative tasks essential for the successful operation of the clinical research site.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of assigned studies and support functions under the direction of the Site Manager/Director and Principal/Sub Investigators.
  • Conduct basic screening of patients for study enrollment and assist with patient follow-up visits.
  • Document in source clinic charts and enter data in EDC (Electronic Data Capture), including answering queries.
  • Obtain vital signs and ECGs; may perform blood draws.
  • Perform basic lab procedures per protocol, such as blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens, and accountability of specimens.
  • Request and track medical record requests.
  • Assist the CRC with updating and maintaining logs, filing in charts, and scheduling subjects for study visits, including appointment reminders and rescheduling.
  • Ensure study-related reports and patient results are reviewed by the Research Coordinator and/or investigator in a timely manner.
  • Assist with study recruitment, patient enrollment, and tracking as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patients, employees, customers, and company information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Perform all other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; 1 year of administrative or clinical experience is required.
  • 1 year or more of clinical research or clinical experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a plus.

Skills

  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, email, electronic health records, and web applications.
  • Typing proficiency (40+ WPM).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills; ability to work well independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, adapt to changes in workloads and priorities, and work under minimal supervision.
  • Professional, respectful, self-motivated, and strong work ethic.
  • High degree of integrity, dependability, and ability to handle highly sensitive information confidentially.
