About the Role

The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) II is responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health in accordance with medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. The Clinical RN II collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members in the development, execution, and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan of care. The RN assumes a full patient assignment and can plan, analyze, intervene, and set goals for patient care accordingly. This nurse provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the Virginia Board of Nursing, maintains a safe care environment, and delivers quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Conducts individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs within specified timeframes. Integrates nursing interventions into the multidisciplinary plan of care, incorporating appropriate standards of care and practice.
  • Planning: Develops, modifies, and integrates individualized care plans, establishing measurable patient goals in consultation with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
  • Intervention: Performs treatments as ordered, initiates emergency measures when necessary, and provides culturally sensitive care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate patient care interventions.
  • Evaluation: Evaluates patient responses to care, initiates changes in the care plan, and documents findings and progress.
  • Patient Education: Identifies and addresses learning needs of patients/families, ensuring they demonstrate understanding within their abilities.
  • Self and Peer Learning: Assesses and meets personal learning and professional development needs, maintains competency in nursing specialty, and may function as a charge nurse.
  • Collaboration: Coordinates complex patient care demands, supervises delegated care, and reports changes in patient condition.
  • Service Recovery: Participates in service recovery, handles conflict resolution, and supports appropriate resource utilization.
  • Improvement Activities: Participates in quality assurance, identifies practice concerns, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Research/Evidence-Based Practice: May participate in research or evidence-based practice projects, communicate findings, and implement methods to improve care.
  • Ethics: Maintains confidentiality, protects patient autonomy and rights, and serves as a patient advocate.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • License: Registered Nurse in Virginia or compact license to practice in Virginia.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional specialty certifications required for specific areas (e.g., ACLS, PALS, etc.).
  • Experience: One year of Nursing (RN) experience.

Pay

Salary Range: $31.05 - $48.13 / Hour
