Clinical Psychologist - Autism Spectrum Disorder & Anxiety and Mood Disorder Services

NYU Langone’s Child Study Center (CSC), part of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry—one of only two independent child and adolescent psychiatry departments within an academic medical center in the nation—is seeking a dynamic, collaborative clinical psychologist to join our Manhattan practice in a joint position across the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Anxiety and Mood Disorder Services.

About the role

This full-time position is ideal for a psychologist with expertise in autism and co-occurring anxiety, mood, and related disorders across the pediatric age range. The psychologist will provide evidence-based assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families in individual, parent training, family, and group modalities.

The Anxiety and Mood Disorder Service includes specialty programs in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A), Tics, Tourette’s, and Trichotillomania (T3 program), and intensive treatments for anxiety disorders. Availability for late afternoon and evening appointments is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments to children, adolescents, and their families in individual, parent training, family, and group modalities.
• Conduct developmental evaluations and autism evaluations using semi-structured psychiatric interviews, cognitive and developmental assessments, language assessments, adaptive assessments, and ASD diagnostic tools. Complete feedback sessions and write comprehensive reports in a timely manner.
• Provide consultation to schools and other community institutions.
• Contribute to and/or lead collaborations focused on improving care for youth with mental health conditions.
• Supervise and teach trainees across disciplines.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to individualized treatment planning.
• Participate in continuing education such as weekly Case Conference and Grand Rounds.
• Participate in 2-3 direct activities annually that support our department’s mission to disseminate evidence-based information, including providing Child Study Center parent workshops, writing for the website, speaking on DoctorRadio, and/or equivalent.
• Participate in research activities when appropriate.
• Adhere to the code of ethics of your professional organization and the medical center.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution.
• Completion of APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship.
• Licensed or license-eligible in the State of New York.
• Strong proficiency in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral therapy, parent management training, and diagnostic evaluation.
• Experience conducting comprehensive evaluations is essential.
• Proficiency with ASD diagnostic tools such as the ADOS-2 and ADI-R is a plus.
• Advanced training and/or certification in evidence-based interventions for ASD or related conditions (e.g., Early Start Denver Model, Facing Your Fears, PEERS®, RUBI, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Unstuck and On Target, DBT-A, or other relevant approaches) is preferred.

Schedule

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry supports a hybrid work arrangement. This position includes dedicated onsite space at our Manhattan office, with a structured onsite/remote schedule determined by clinical needs and space availability.

Pay

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The annual salary range for a full-time junior faculty role is $116,792 to $116,792. Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are also encouraged to apply. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.

In addition to the annual salary listed, psychologists are typically eligible for supplemental compensation ranging from $31,300 to $80,000 in the first year of practice.
