About the Role

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan is seeking a full-time clinical-track faculty member to work in Ambulatory Psychiatry, focusing on psychotherapy treatment of sleep disorders in adults. The department includes over 170 faculty, robust research programs, and busy clinical and training opportunities. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality clinical care and education for adults with sleep disorders, with potential expansion into other diagnostic domains such as anxiety or mood disorders based on skill and interest.

Opportunities include participation in or leadership of quality improvement and research efforts, mentorship, didactic teaching, and engagement in patient care activities with interdisciplinary learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in one-on-one and potentially group therapy settings.
• Teach and supervise interdisciplinary learners, including pre-doctoral practicum students, interns, post-doctoral fellows, clinical social work fellows, medical residents, and fellows.
• Participate in didactic lectures, clinical skills verification, core curriculum teaching, mentorship in psychotherapy, medical student teaching, and journal clubs.
• Engage in interdisciplinary trainee recruitment and interviewing.
• Attend faculty meetings, including Academic Staff, All-Staff, Psychology Faculty, and other administrative meetings as required.
• Manage administrative tasks such as electronic medical record and in-basket monitoring, phone calls, letters, records, and emails.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities.

Qualifications

• PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology with specialized training in sleep psychology.
• Current license to practice in the State of Michigan.
• Completion of an APA-accredited graduate program and pre-doctoral internship.
• Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship.
• Demonstrated promise for an academic career emphasizing clinical care, teaching, and administration.
• Superior clinical competencies and master teacher skills.
• Active membership in good standing of the University of Michigan Medical Staff.
• Comfort with providing mental health care to patients with significant physical health or developmental needs.

Desired Qualifications

• Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine certification.

Modes of Work

Hybrid or mobile/remote work eligibility is at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change at any time.
