Clinical Placement Coordinator, RN

About the Role

As a Clinical Placement Coordinator at BILH, you will facilitate the placement of undergraduate and graduate nursing students within clinical areas of Lahey Clinic. You will be responsible for the orientation of clinical instructors, both employee and non-employee, and facilitate the placement and orientation of senior nursing students completing capstone/practicum experiences.

Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and in collaboration with the Associate Chief for the Center for Clinical and Professional Development, the Nurse Manager, and the Assistant Nurse Manager, you will practice within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and demonstrate Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The Clinical Educator promotes excellence in nursing practice by providing expert nursing care to patients and functions as a clinical/educational resource to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Judgment and Decision Making: Understand the problems, issues, or concerns of patients/families, attend to critical information, and respond appropriately.
  • Facilitate the nursing process: collaborate with staff nurses on assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation of nursing care.
  • Improve nursing practice by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient outcomes and standards of care.
  • Provide expert nursing care to patients and function as a clinical resource to nursing staff.
• Nurse-Patient/Family Relationship: Integrate the patient’s response and their religious/spiritual, ethnic, and cultural beliefs into the plan of care.
  • Facilitate the establishment of a professional relationship with patients and family.
  • Teach the patient and family about the patient’s illness, treatment, and preventative measures.
• Clinical Leadership: Lead and influence colleagues in the patient’s best interest through skillful comportment, clinical knowledge, and ethical conviction.
  • Support the development of others and create a practice climate of responsiveness and learning.
  • Serve as a role model by integrating components of professional nursing practice, including clinical practice, consultation, collaboration, leadership, education, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and adhere to practice guidelines specific to the setting.
  • Uphold standards of quality nursing care and demonstrate skills as a responsive team member.
• Clinical Scholarship:
  • Assume the role of an evidence-based practice champion.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Develop formal and informal educational programs to assist nursing staff with meeting performance expectations.
  • Serve as a resource for students from affiliated schools of nursing and allied health.
• Organizational Requirements:
  • Incorporate Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.

Requirements

• Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) instructor certification.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a Board of Registration approved nursing education program within the United States or as certified by the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

Qualifications

• Education: Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent advanced degree in a health-related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 5 years of current, relevant nursing experience is required. An additional 1-3 years of training and education experience is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $65,312.00 USD - $168,346.88 USD. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
