Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Oncology/Pharmacist ($25,000 Sign-on bonus for Full-time)

About the role

The Pharmacy Specialist and Oncology Pharmacy Clinician will collaborate to provide clinical services and manage medication delivery. They will also enhance clinical pharmacy services and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the delivery of clinical services and resolve clinical issues.
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery of drug information and clinical services to patients and healthcare providers.
• Develop personal clinical practice, staff clinical abilities, and educate pharmacy students/residents.
• Review staffing and clinical activities, interpret medication orders, and ensure safe medication delivery.
• Utilize barcode verification and automation software for pharmacist checking and dispensing.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services including pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, IV to PO interchanges, dosing recommendations, and antibiotic stewardship reviews.
• Document clinical interventions and monitor pharmacy workflow.
• Supervise and redirect technical staff, ensuring timely medication delivery and auditing responsibilities.
• Provide immediate supervision to unlicensed pharmacy students.
• Ensure medication safety through event reporting, inspections, and consultations.
• Maintain annual continuing education requirements and perform compliance checks.
• As a preceptor, provide medication information and educational programs to patients, staff, and pharmacy staff.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and report medication safety inconsistencies.
• Maintain performance, patient, and employee satisfaction standards and adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards.

Requirements

• Current pharmacy license in Alabama or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• ASHP accredited PGY1 or PGY2 in Oncology or at least 4 years post-graduate experience in oncology care.
• ACCP board certification (BCPS or BCOP) preferred.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience in precepting and training pharmacy students and residents preferred.
• Active membership and participation in professional pharmacy organizations.
• Leadership experience and experience on multidisciplinary teams preferred.
• Effective communication and supervisory skills required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or Pharm.D. degree, completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 program, and a minimum of four years of post-graduate experience in oncology care. They should also have developed a personal clinical practice and demonstrated a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Skills

Strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and supervisory abilities are essential. Proficiency in medication safety protocols and regulatory compliance is also required.
