Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Full-Time

About the role

The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist is responsible for drug distribution, patient medication management, and providing expert pharmaceutical consultation. They evaluate physician orders, monitor drug therapy effects, and ensure proper pharmacotherapeutics for patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex clinical pharmacy services, including drug therapy management, pharmacokinetics, and multidisciplinary rounding.
• Assist healthcare providers with medication use challenges and cost containment.
• Evaluate drug therapy orders for appropriateness and monitor therapy effects.
• Document interventions, provide patient education, and counsel on drug use and storage.
• Precept pharmacy residents/students and deliver staff education presentations.
• Participate in drug use evaluation programs and contribute to Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees.
• Perform pharmacy operational duties and administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree or BS pharmacy with pediatric experience.
• Current Ohio pharmacy license.
• Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) pharmacy residency or equivalent experience; PGY2 preferred.
• Experience with adult, pediatric, or neonatal drug use, and interdepartmental collaboration.
• Proficiency in MS Office and pharmacy software like Epic Willow or Ambulatory systems.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
