About the Role
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients by ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medications. This role collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, promote medication safety, and support high-quality patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The Clinical Pharmacist serves as a medication expert, providing clinical recommendations, patient counseling, and support for medication management initiatives within MUSC Health Orangeburg.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through the review, verification, and dispensing of medications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize medication therapy and monitor patient outcomes.
- Provide evidence-based clinical recommendations to enhance patient care.
- Educate patients and healthcare staff on medication use and safety.
- Promote medication safety initiatives and participate in quality improvement efforts.
- Contribute to operational efficiency and regulatory readiness.
- Support the continuous advancement of pharmacy services across MUSC Health Orangeburg.
Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
- Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
