Role Purpose

The lead clinical pharmacist on the IDS team is responsible for evaluating patient treatment plans and verifying/dispensing orders in compliance with the clinical trial protocol. This role requires assessing, monitoring, initiating, and modifying medication use according to patient condition and age-specific criteria, serving as a liaison between the pharmacy department and other healthcare practitioners, supervising and directing supportive personnel, counseling and educating to promote optimal drug therapy, directing and managing workflow, participating in educational programs, serving on committees, developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures, and providing advanced-level support to the professional, operational, and patient care aspects of the pharmacy department.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function, and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
  • Directs and manages workflow in focused areas of pharmacy practice.
  • Oversight of pharmacists, technicians, interns, and volunteers to ensure the accuracy of their work in accordance with departmental procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Participation in the delivery of educational programs within and outside of the pharmacy department.
  • Serving on committees at the health service organization.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to the medication use process.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Experience: 2-5 years
  • Licenses & Certifications: Medication Therapy Services in MO

Preferred Requirements

  • Education: Doctorate in Pharmacy
  • Residency: Doctorate in Pharmacy Residency
  • Experience: 5-10 years
