Responsibilities

The Clinical Pharmacist assists in performing daily pharmacy tasks, including but not limited to:

• Filling orders for medications, monitoring patient therapeutic medications, providing drug information, checking medications, IV mixtures and compounding medications, prior to distribution.
• Utilizing good problem solving abilities, making sure that problems are resolved, calling on other knowledgeable parties as necessary.
• Maintaining strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispensing accordingly.
• Consulting with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints.
• Determining and consulting on possible drug interactions.
• Assisting with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
• Monitoring, recording and communicating as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Utilizing knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy
• Licensure in the State of TN
• Board Certification preferred
• One-year hospital experience preferred
• Residency preferred

Our medical staff of about 500 physicians includes more than 45 specialties. Many physicians have offices on the hospital campus.
