About the role
The Clinical Pharmacist provides clinical support for a wide range of pharmacy management programs designed to encourage appropriate utilization of the BCBSMS pharmacy and medical benefits in collaboration with the Manager, Clinical Pharmacy and Medical Director.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Manager, Clinical Pharmacy to obtain and analyze available internal data and external prescription drug data to formulate recommendations for prescription drug program benefit design.
- Day-to-day review of drug database information for pharmacy benefits administration.
- Initial drug prior authorization requests.
- Drug re-authorizations requests.
- Drug appeals.
Requirements
- A current Mississippi pharmacist license (or intent to get same).
- A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and a residency are preferred.
- Proven clinical pharmacy knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Proven knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Access, Showcase and other software tools is preferred.
- Previous managed care or pharmacy benefits management experience preferred.
- Proven project management and problem solving skills.
- Understands basic economic principals and can apply them to the pharmacy management setting.
