Job Summary

The Clinical Nursing Student provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. The role is designed to provide clinical experience and exposure through job shadowing and provision of care appropriate to scope and delegation of the RN.

Essential Functions

• Supports the nurse in the application of the nursing process.
• Develops critical thinking skills through collaboration with the RN.
• Provides basic patient care such as care and comfort, record vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility, including unit-based specialty duties.
• Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns to the nurse.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, families, visitors, and employees.
• Accurately documents patient care when applicable.
• Escalates concerns appropriately through the appropriate chain of command.

Education & Experience

• HS/GED (required)
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required)
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long-term care facility (preferred)

Licenses & Certifications

• BLS (preferred)

Training

• Completed First Clinical Rotation as a Nursing Student.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).

Pay & Benefits

Range: Minimum: $17.25 Maximum: $25.87
