Pay

The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp HealthCare and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL-CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.

  • Hourly pay range: $61.740 – $70.170 – $90.160

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.
  • Delegate and assign care tasks, communicate expectations, and ensure follow-through; analyze each situation to determine appropriate level of supervision.
  • Assess appropriateness of physician orders and question when necessary.
  • Document care per department guidelines, ensuring comprehensive, critical-thinking-oriented records.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, addressing spiritual, cultural, language, or illness-related barriers; serve as a patient advocate.
  • Support coworkers by offering assistance, providing feedback, teaching, and improving work processes.
  • Provide age-appropriate patient education to facilitate recovery, self-care, health maintenance, and wellness; coordinate transfer and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan, coordinate, and communicate patient care using systematic planning and timely information exchange.
  • Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking to deliver individualized, goal-directed care that integrates mind, body, and spirit; continuously evaluate and adjust care plans.
  • Identify actual or potential problems, risks, and needs for referrals; prioritize resources and manage complex patient needs.
  • Act as a preceptor or teacher for other nurses on unit-specific nursing processes.
  • Implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with multi-system diseases or treatment complications.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing school.
  • 1 year of clinical experience.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license – CA Board of Registered Nursing (REQUIRED).
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification – employee provides certificate (REQUIRED).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).

Skills

  • Independently perform the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) for patients with overt and subtle needs.
  • Provide safe nursing care in complex situations with some assistance and supervision; demonstrate competency in unit skills and some advanced skills.
  • Coordinate patient care administered by other team members; may assume relief charge nurse responsibilities and assist with preceptorship.
  • Use common equipment and medications safely; recognize inconsistencies in patient care and manage potential complications.
  • Demonstrate consistent organization, prioritization, and confident management of emergency situations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior through participation in unit activities and committees.
  • Teach and mentor others to improve clinical practice; utilize a variety of teaching/coaching strategies.
  • Promote clinical effectiveness, efficient resource use, and quality care; transfer knowledge to improve practice.
  • Demonstrate complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
