Manage a unit/department by implementing and maintaining specific policies, procedures, and guidelines, leading team members in direct patient care, ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives, and partnering with a multidisciplinary team to meet clinical needs. Provide leadership and management to unit/department team members, serve as a charge nurse, and oversee patient flow, staffing, and resource utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of unit/department-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice and organizational standards.
  • Lead unit/department team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting the application of the Professional Practice Model and Professional Standards.
  • Serve as a charge nurse by preparing schedules, assigning team members to patients, overseeing admission/discharge processes, and monitoring/ordering medicines and supplies.
  • Collaborate with team members to create individualized plans of care tailored to patient needs.
  • Interpret and explain regulatory standards and hospital policies to employees, ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of staffing resources and adjust shifts to meet patient and unit needs.
  • Partner with a multidisciplinary team to address the clinical needs of patients and families.
  • Conduct rounds with patients, families, and team members to enhance patient experience and care quality.
  • Resolve operational and patient/family issues by making inclusive decisions and addressing underlying problems.
  • Assist team members in achieving unit outcomes, performance standards, and professional development goals; identify opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Champion clinical practice and professional growth by working with CNE/CNS to meet educational needs and evaluate staff competencies.
  • Develop, coach, and evaluate team members; mentor them in creating/evaluating projects focused on improving clinical practice.
  • Provide advice to the Clinical Manager on hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Monitor unit/department expenditures and participate in budget recommendation development.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Master’s degree in Nursing or a directly related health care field preferred).
  • Three years of clinical experience.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association (with at least 6 months remaining before expiration at hire).
  • ANCC-recognized certification in clinical specialty.
  • Depending on the unit/department, additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Adult Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) may be required.

Pay

Annual salary range (based on 40 hours worked per week): $108,198.40 to $162,297.60, dependent on relevant experience.

Schedule

Full-time, benefit-eligible position. 4 days per week with a set day off.
