About the role
The Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders (LCBCD) Hemophilia Nurse Specialist will assist in the direct care of hemophilia and other bleeding disorder patients throughout the state and region. This role is responsible for the delivery and management of patient care and oversight, utilizing the nursing process, the healthcare environment, and current technology to provide a climate that optimizes patient care and staff development.
The Hemophilia Nurse Specialist will perform a variety of direct patient care activities and assist with procedures to the appropriate level of training and established protocols.
Responsibilities
- Complete clinical assessments and deliver prescribed therapies
- Handle prior authorizations and professional phone triage
- Conduct inpatient visits and assist with discharge planning
- Administer infusions and other therapies in clinic and hospital settings
- Document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record
- Perform clerical functions to support the practice as instructed
- Maintain the physical environment of exam and procedure rooms
- Order tests, labs, and prescriptions per physician orders
- Serve as an active contributing member of the LCBCD Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC)
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current Louisiana licensure by date of hire
- Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in ambulatory nursing care, med-surgery, and/or pediatrics, including venipuncture experience
