Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the role

In collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides expert family-centered clinical care and clinical consultation within her/his area of expertise to improve outcomes and to promote integrated health care that is safe, equitable, timely, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Manages the care of complex and/or vulnerable populations through expert direct care, care coordination, and collaboration with patients and families and other members of the health care team.
• Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by being knowledgeable about evidence and best practices for safety, speaking up about safety issues, and changing practice to enhance safety.
• Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms and communicates these with appropriate leadership.
• Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
• Supports other members of the health care team, including nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals through collaborative clinical practice, education, research/evidence-based practice, and consultation.
• Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, students and other health care providers.
• Facilitates change and innovation for patients/populations within the department, the health care system, and the community.
• Analyzes and utilizes data, including patient satisfaction data, QI data, other data relevant to specialty populations, and incident report/safety net data to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop a plan of action to improve outcomes.
• Participates in scholarly activities including research and evidence-based practice.
• Participates in personal professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate educational offerings.
• Presents research and evidence-based practice findings to unit staff.
• Participates in regional/national programs relevant to specialty practice.
• Develops departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and standards based on the best available evidence.

Requirements

• Master's Degree Nursing - Required
• Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
• Registered Nurse (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required
• Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
• Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required
• Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics (ACCNS-P) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required or
• Acute Care Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACCNS-N) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required or
• Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CCNS) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required or
• Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification (PCNS-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center - upon hire - Required or
• Specialty Certification - as a pediatric clinical nurse specialist or clinical nurse specialist in specialty area of practice. - upon hire - Required

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

Skills

• Health care informatics competencies to manage patient care, outcome data, and current and emerging health care technology.

Pay

SALARY RANGE: $107,200.00 - $142,100.00 Annually

This job is eligible for an incentive program.
