About the Role

The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supports and evaluates clinical staff during their initial months on the unit, acts as a clinical resource, and promotes nursing excellence through standards and competency development. They facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration, conduct patient care consultations, and support clinical rounds with healthcare teams. The role emphasizes clinical expertise within a specialty area, fostering collegial relationships with physicians and staff to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in an accredited clinical nurse specialist program
  • Alaska RN License and current BLS certification
  • Specialty certification (e.g., CEN, CCRN) upon hire; CNS certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years RN experience in the specialty area
  • At least 2 years in clinical leadership roles

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support new staff within their first 90-180 days
  • Implement clinical standards and competency protocols
  • Act as a clinical resource and conduct patient care consultations
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and foster collaborative relationships
