Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Reviews physician EPIC-in-baskets on a daily basis, triaging appropriately.
- Pends new medications and prescription refills in Epic for physician signature.
- Aids in ordering patient lab and study tests as needed, and routing orders in EPIC to physicians for their co-signature.
- Collaborates with the cardiology scheduling team to help schedule tests as needed.
- Fulfills follow-up on lab and study test results, notifying the physician and patient as appropriate.
- Returns patient phone calls and responds to appropriate Epic in-basket questions.
- Prepares physicians for outpatient clinic appointments including obtaining detailed medical records for patients with complex medical histories and ensuring records are scanned into Epic.
- Popsulates patient history in EPIC prior to appointments.
- Generates patient problem lists as requested by physicians.
- Keeps abreast of inclusion/exclusion criteria for ongoing clinical trials to help identify possible research candidates.
- In certain circumstances, the RN will also attend clinic with physicians, obtain/update history and interim concerns from patients, and help document patient clinic encounters in EPIC.
- Operates within the nursing scope of practice for the State of Maryland.
- Might perform case management services to patients from initial intake visit through termination of services.
- Aids in the development/updating of unit based protocols, standardized care maps and/or care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
- CPR/BLS certified.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiology nursing experience preferred.
Starting Salary Range
$66,215 - $116,130 Annually ($89,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
