Clinical Nurse Manager Mother/Baby

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Manager oversees a 29-bed Mother-Baby Care Unit at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital. The unit provides care for postpartum patients and newborns, including rotations within maternal child health units with training. The role involves leading and managing the unit to ensure safe and effective patient care, promoting professional growth, and fostering a patient-centered care culture.

Responsibilities

• Maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and management of a designated patient care unit.
• Promotes quality nursing care, cost-effective use of resources, and professional growth for nursing staff.
• Ensures safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, and policies and procedures.
• Serves as a chief retention and safety officer, ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigate unnecessary risks.
• Creates and ensures a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals.
• Models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in Mother/Baby, Family Birth
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) license
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
• AAP Certified Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Required
• One year of formal nursing leadership experience (external candidates)
• Preferred Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal candidates, which may include roles such as Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or participation in Shared Governance Councils
