Clinical Nurse Manager, Medical Surgical
Manages and provides overall operational and clinical nursing leadership to an inpatient department(s) or setting. Plans and organizes inpatient nursing operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care consistent with applicable laws, standards, and regulations. Establishes protocols and practices, ensuring compliance with department, affiliate, operating unit, and/or system standards, policies, and procedures, the Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and applicable laws and regulations. Takes a strategic and tactical approach in identifying best practices and standardizing workflows/processes, and developing plans of action to implement changes. Establishes and manages capital and operational budgets to achieve financial targets via effective utilization of personnel, resources, and supplies. Develops and maintains a solid partnership with internal and external peers, leaders, and/or local/state/federal agencies to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives or issue resolution. Provides guidance and/or direct intervention in resolving challenging or complex situations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and provide operational and clinical nursing leadership for inpatient department(s).
- Plan and organize nursing operations and resources to deliver patient care efficiently.
- Establish and ensure compliance with protocols, standards, policies, and procedures, including TJC standards and applicable laws.
- Identify best practices, standardize workflows, and implement changes.
- Manage capital and operational budgets to meet financial targets.
- Develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate on initiatives and resolve issues.
- Provide guidance or direct intervention in complex situations.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
- 3 years of experience in a nursing professional discipline with a solid understanding of patient care and acute care operations.
- 3 years of progressive clinical/healthcare management and/or operations experience in the appropriate area of specialty.
- 3 years of management, supervisory, or team lead experience.
- 3 years of experience with process improvement activities.
- 3 years of experience working in a labor union environment.
- 3 years of experience in budgeting and fiscal management.
- 3 years of experience with survey protocols on a department and organizational level (e.g., Joint Commission, State).
- 3 years of experience with electronic health record applications.

Pay
Pay range is $227,385.60 to $363,792.00 annual salary. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
Schedule
- Full-time days.
- Schedule: Friday, Monday, Thursday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
- Weekend requirements: As needed.
- Weekly hours: 40.
