Primary Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity of the assigned unit.
- Independently performs comprehensive patient assessments, implements nursing and medical interventions, evaluates patient responses, and documents care in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, safety, and quality of care.
- Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency.
- Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policy, and individual competency levels.
- Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and effective communication when transitioning between units and clinical settings.
- Adheres to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Identifies, reports, and takes appropriate action related to patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses.
- Supports unit operations and staffing needs, including performing charge or other unit-based roles as appropriate and within validated competencies.
- Participates in quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives as applicable.
Qualifications
- Maintains current RN licensure, required certifications, and validated competencies necessary for assigned clinical settings.
- Completes all required organizational, regulatory, and annual education.
- Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competence.
