Clinical Nurse II - M/S Oncology - Sharp Tri-City - FT - Days

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with CNA.

Schedule

• Shift Start Time: 7 AM
• Shift End Time: 7:30 PM
• 12-hour shift (12/36 schedule)
• Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule
• Weekend requirements: As needed
• On-call: Not required

Pay

Hourly pay range: $57.00 – $75.21 (midpoint $66.11)

Responsibilities

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) at the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) level delivers high-quality, patient-centered care with advanced competencies and specialized certifications. Key duties include:

• Maintain a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify needs and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient responses, intervening as needed.
• Coordinate with the healthcare team to deliver safe, efficient, and timely care.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity and confidentiality; demonstrate empathy and compassion.
• Provide education to patients and families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Advocate for evidence-based practices in Medical-Surgical patient care.
• Comply with regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, OSHA) and report safety concerns proactively.
• Accurately document patient care, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide preceptorship and mentorship to new graduate nurses, new hires, and students.
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for best practices within the Medical-Surgical unit and act as Relief Charge Nurse as needed.
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies (e.g., Rapid Response Team situations) with composure and clinical skill.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Associate’s Degree in Nursing with five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical or equivalent setting.
• 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical Unit or equivalent setting.
• California Registered Nurse (RN) license (CA Board of Registered Nursing) – required.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – required.

Qualifications

• Oncology Department: Current ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate – required; chemotherapy experience.
• Orthopedic Unit: Orthopedic Nurses Certification (ONC) or equivalent – preferred.
• Medical-Surgical Unit: Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN) or equivalent – preferred.

• Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload with common medical and surgical conditions.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision-making and strong teamwork.
• Proficiency in basic medical equipment (e.g., IV pumps, monitors) and medication administration.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to respond to acute changes in patient conditions.
• Excellent patient care and communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
