The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborate with patient/family and other professional disciplines to create a partnership ensuring effective and efficient patient care delivery for the achievement of mutually desired patient outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Provide family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate with patient/family and other professional disciplines to achieve mutually desired patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in workload/staffing.
  • Prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports.
  • Perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws.
  • Set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards of care with sensitivity and respect.
  • Advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission.
  • Understand and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year acute care nursing experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition & Stabilization (PEARS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse – California (RN) licensure.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Pediatric care.
  • Preferred experience in education, care coordination, public health, or community clinic.
  • Preferred: Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN).

Work Environment

  • Light to moderate energy level.

  • Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (e.g., empty bed, stretcher).
  • Physical activities include: bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use/repetitive motion, pinching/fine motor activities, push/pull, reaching forward, reaching overhead, sitting, squat/kneel/crawl, standing, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling, twisting, walking, wrist position deviation.
  • Lifting requirements:
    • Lifting (Floor to waist level) – Constant (67% or more), Frequent (36-66%), Occasional (0-35%).
    • Lifting (Waist level and above) – Constant (67% or more), Frequent (36-66%), Occasional (0-35%).
  • Sensory requirements: color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision.
  • Environmental conditions: airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemical exposure, dust particulate matter, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces or elevations.

Pay

Pay Range:

  • Minimum: $52.93 per hour
  • Midpoint: $70.13 per hour
  • Maximum: $87.32 per hour

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
