About the role
The CCU is a 17-bed cardiac critical care unit with each room equipped with invasive monitoring capabilities. The unit serves adult patients (age 18 and older) experiencing actual or potential life-threatening cardiac dysfunction.
Credentialed RPNs in this unit provide continuous EKG monitoring for potentially life-threatening dysrhythmias and implement emergency measures in the absence of a physician according to the American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA-ACLS) Guidelines. Additional services include monitoring and care of patients with:
- Impella ventricular assist devices
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps
- Pulmonary Artery Catheters
- TVPs
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Responsibilities
- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document care as required by company policy and local/state/federal regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered.
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
- Possess knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools to support departmental and patient care quality improvement.
Requirements
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (obtained and maintained).
- Previous experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance preferred.
- Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
Pay
Salary Range: $85,280.00 - $95,513.60
