About the role
Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
- Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s).
- Supports an environment that promotes evidence-based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s).
- Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
- May perform clinical patient care when needed.
- Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s).
- Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Required)
- Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) – State of Florida (FL) or Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) – Compact RN Multistate
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Advanced Practicing Registered Nurse (APRN) – State of Florida (FL) (if applicable)
- Three (3) years nursing experience. Candidates for Clinical Nurse Educator RN Fellowship positions may apply after completion of two (2) years' nursing experience.
- Department Specific: JDC- Hematology/Oncology: APHON Provider and PALS required.
