About the role
As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) in the Mom Baby unit, your voice influences patient care through open, collaborative relationships and formal opportunities via hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
The CNC ensures and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all unit/department functions during the designated shift. Collaborating with the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in alignment with established policies and procedures, serving as a resource for staff while modeling the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities
- Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Participates in ongoing assessment of patient care services provided in the unit, collaborating with the management team.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to foster a teamwork environment that supports improved outcomes and service.
- Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
- Operationalizes nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives to improve engagement.
- Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
- Recommends and implements courses of action, such as training, conflict resolution, policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
- Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Prior Mom Baby and leadership experience preferred.
