Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for dermatology appointments by obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, and documenting information accurately in the EMR.
  • Coordinate patient flow throughout the clinic to support an efficient daily schedule and positive patient experience.
  • Set up exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for dermatologic visits and procedures.
  • Assist providers during medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and other in-office treatments.
  • Accurately collect, label, and prepare pathology specimens and other laboratory samples according to established protocols.
  • Perform medical scribing and document patient encounters in the electronic medical record as directed.
  • Respond to patient phone calls, portal messages, voicemails, and other clinical communications while escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions regarding treatments, medications, wound care, and follow-up appointments.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and treatment areas in accordance with infection prevention and safety standards.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels by stocking exam rooms, monitoring supplies, and removing expired materials.
  • Support providers and fellow team members by assisting with daily clinic operations and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and company policies while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, or a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (such as pre-med or pre-PA) preferred.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a medical assistant, CNA, or other direct patient care role preferred.
  • Previous experience in dermatology or another outpatient physician practice is a plus, but training is available for the right candidate.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification is welcomed but not required.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and patient care practices.
  • Ability to obtain vital signs, document patient information accurately, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document patient encounters and clinical communications.
  • Ability to administer injections and assist with in-office procedures within scope of practice.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and Bloodborne Pathogen standards.
  • Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and insurance-related documentation preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and team members.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, remain organized, and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established policies, procedures, and provider instructions.
  • Ability to recognize patient concerns and communicate them appropriately to the provider or clinical team.
  • Flexibility to travel to additional clinic locations as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent movement including bending, reaching, twisting, and maintaining balance.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for clinical and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone (speaking and listening).
  • Handling of clinic materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Exposure to clinical environments, including potential contact with infectious materials, chemicals, and sharp instruments.
