Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Flow Cytometry

About the role

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team at our facility in RTP, NC. New graduates are welcome, and full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Proficiently perform the principal functional responsibilities of the Technician role as necessary.
• Verify proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps.
• Initial all paperwork to indicate work performed by the individual.
• Notify Senior Technologist, Team Lead, Supervisor, Lab Manager, or Lab Director of any identification discrepancies and document actions taken.
• Operate Flow Cytometers, Slide Stainer, and CBC analyzer instruments to perform assigned duties.
• Test specimens completely, accurately, and within established time frames.
• Understand and follow established testing procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• In lieu of the above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may be considered.
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• High level of attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Schedule

Tuesday - Saturday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm
