Clinical Laboratory Technologist
About the role
The Clinical Lab Technologist will perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using a variety of automated and manual instrumentation in a timely manner. They will also maintain equipment and records according to department procedures and regulatory agency guidelines in the areas of QA and QC. Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure.
- Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures.
- Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required.
- Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment.
- Aid with answering the telephone and performing order entry in the LIS system, as necessary.
- May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians.
- Assist with the training of new employees.
- Perform other laboratory related tasks under the direction of a supervisor as needed.
Requirements
- Position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, medical technology preferred.
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required.
- Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment.
- Prior to obtaining the provisional permit, associates may not release any patient reports.
Qualifications
- Laboratory and hospital information system computers, variety of automated equipment and other laboratory equipment is required.

Pay
Hiring rate is $54.41 per hour, which could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.
Schedule
Work Shift: Evening
Scheduled Hours: 12 PM-8 PM
Scheduled Daily Hours: 7 HOURS
Alternate Weekends: Yes
