Clinical Laboratory Technician - Microbiology

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Preferred Qualifications: 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience, Prior experience with LabCorp, ASCP or AMT certification

• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Able to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay and Benefits

• Pay Range: $21.03 - $30.17 per hour + 15% Shift Differential
