Clinical Laboratory Technician

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Be flexible to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification

  • Understand laboratory operations and policies and procedures
  • Work independently and within a team environment
  • Be proficient with computers and familiar with laboratory information systems
  • Show high level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills
  • Handle the physical requirements of the position

Pay

Commensurate with experience

Schedule

3 - 12 hour shifts, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm with rotating weekends and holidays
