Clinical Laboratory Supervisor - Atrium Health Baldwin - Evenings

About the role

Responsible for laboratory operations in the technical area(s) of the Hospitals and Clinics within the Advocate Health enterprise, which may include department, discipline and/or shift oversight. Supervises the implementation of enterprise laboratory strategies and standards through close collaboration with site leaders.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the department including providing work direction, expertise, and guidance to the staff.
• Oversees the clinical laboratory testing, evaluation of results, and the proficiency of testing.
• Actively participates in projects to meet strategic initiatives including implementation and development of quantitative outcomes.
• Maintains competency, as needed, in test systems and processes in defined discipline for area of responsibility.
• Serves as a technical resource for staff.
• Reviews laboratory results for quality, accuracy and validity. Documents and implements corrective action as appropriate.
• Selects, coaches, and develops team.
• Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
• Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.

Requirements

• Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) BOC), or Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent accrediting agency.
• Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology or equivalent.
• Experience Required: Typically requires 3 years of experience in technical laboratory services and operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership skills including project management, decision making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance, accrediting and licensing agency requirements.
• Current knowledge of medical and technical advancements to plan for future growth and development.
• Intermediate computer skills including knowledge and experience with laboratory information systems.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.

Skills

$41.10 - $61.65

Schedule

Monday - Friday (no weekends or holidays) Evening shift - 1p - 10:30p - some overnight as necessary
