CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST I (BLOOD BANK)

About the role

LA Health Services is LA County’s integrated healthcare system and the second-largest public health system in the nation. Responsibilities

• Performs standardized immuno-serological, biochemical, and toxicological tests on specimens such as blood, urine, cerebral spinal fluid or joint fluid.
• Performs quantification, macroscopic and microscopic analysis, various chemical and toxin analysis, or point of care tests on urine, blood, and body fluid.
• Cultures, isolates, and identifies microbiological pathogens, such as, but not limited to parasites, bacteria, fungi, and viruses in blood, sputum, urine, feces, exudates, tissues, spinal fluid, and similar substances using standardized laboratory procedures.

Requirements

• Experience: Six (6) months of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an approved laboratory blood bank.
• License: Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist License in one of the following specialties when assigned to a specialized area such as chemistry, microbiology, hematology, toxicology, and immunohematology.
• Physical Class 2 – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
