Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist
About the role
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at ABSMC-Ashby Campus. This role involves performing tests across various areas of the Clinical Laboratory, including Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and limited Microbiology. Key responsibilities include calibrating and maintaining instruments, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring accurate record-keeping and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Perform tests in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory
- Calibrate and maintain all Clinical Laboratory instruments
- Troubleshoot instruments and methods as needed
- Keep necessary records and resolve issues related to instruments and methods
- Process specimens and perform clerical functions as required
- Work efficiently under pressure, especially during STAT times
- In Blood Bank, resolve antibody problems, prepare components, select appropriate blood for transfusion, and identify and work up transfusion reactions
Requirements
- One year internship in an approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist Program leading to licensure by the State of California - CLIA Specific
- Possess a current California Laboratory Technologist License
- Knowledge of automated analyzers and their maintenance and troubleshooting
- Understanding of quality control and record-keeping
Qualifications
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- Bachelor's OR Master's degree in a relevant field
- One year internship in an approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist Program leading to licensure by the State of California - CLIA Specific
- One of the following requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the state in which the laboratory is located
- Doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- An associated degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- Previously qualified as a technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 published in March 14, 1990, on or before February 28, 1992
