Clinical Laboratory Scientist Full Time Evening
Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing moderately complex and complex laboratory tests, as defined by CLIA, in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank and serology. Professional application of the principles, theories, techniques, and quality controls of laboratory science is used. This position reports to the lead clinical laboratory scientist, laboratory manager/supervisor, and/or the administrative director of Laboratory services.

Responsibilities
- Follows the hospital's policies and procedures and documents their review.
- Ensures all daily Quality controls (QC) (or as required, Levy-Jennings and Westgard Rules) is acceptable before releasing patient results.
- Performs and documents all maintenance, temperatures, specimen rejection and troubleshooting, conforms to schedules and completion of work, leaves little for the next shift.
- Maintains the inventory of supplies and reagents.
- Participates in the laboratories in-service and competency assessment programs.
- Helps train and orient new team members.
- Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
- Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
- Completes other duties assigned by the lead CLS/lab manager/supervisor/lab administrative director.

Qualifications/Experience
- A minimum of six (6) months' experience in an accredited hospital laboratory in at least two (2) laboratory sections preferred.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
- A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within healthcare.
