Clinical Lab Technologist

Job Summary

Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Participates in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

Responsibilities

• Instrument operation and maintenance
• Troubleshooting assays
• Evaluating tests for accuracy
• Assisting with interpreting results
• Operational support activities to optimize testing
• Working with an automated analyzer and various specimen types
• Performing additional workup/testing such as dilutions on some samples
• Additional duties and testing platforms may be added as necessary

• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with others
• Accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments

Preferred Skills

• Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems

Schedule

Shift consists of both overnight and day shift hours during a 2-week rotation:

• Week 1: Monday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Tuesday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Wednesday - off; Thursday - off; Friday - off; Saturday - Day shift (7 am - 5:30 pm); Sunday - Day shift (7 am - 5:30 pm)
• Week 2: Monday - off; Tuesday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Wednesday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Thursday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Friday (8 pm - 6:30 am); Saturday - off; Sunday - off
• Flexible to adjust start times on weekends anywhere between 6 am - 8 am, but candidates are asked to pick a time and be consistent with that start time for the weekends.
