Clinical Lab Technologist
About the role
The role involves performing analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, prognosing, and treating patients. The position requires participation in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities. Testing is conducted in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. The role involves working with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. The individual may work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Strict adherence to safety protocols is required to handle infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.
Responsibilities
- Performing analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, prognosing, and treating patients
- Participating in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities
- Conducting testing in specialized laboratories, including highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation
- Working with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results
- Working with minimal supervision
- Assisting with specimen collection
- Adhering strictly to safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards
- Instrument operation and maintenance
- Troubleshooting assays
- Evaluating tests for accuracy
- Assisting with interpreting results
- Supporting operational activities to optimize testing
Skills
- Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints, multitask, and perform in a fast‑paced and changing environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with others
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off‑shifts, holiday, on‑call, and weekend work assignments
- Experience with the operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems (preferred)
Schedule
Dayshift 8hrs, Monday to Friday, 1‑year assignment.
