Clinical Lab Technologist - $10,000.00 SIGN ON BONUS

About the role

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist generalist to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science. A $10,000.00 sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Proficient with computers.
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet the education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification.
• 1 year or more of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) generalist.
